Westonbirt School enjoys a truly magical setting within a Victorian mansion that lends itself perfectly as inspiration for a spell of descriptive writing. With this is mind, the school recently transformed its teaching staff into witches and wizards to film an online literacy resource, free to schools and parents as community outreach, offering Year 6 pupils the opportunity to unravel the mystery of the shrunken students.
“Many primary schools in Gloucestershire have already taken part," said Westonbirt Head, Natasha Dangerfield. "We have received brilliant feedback and hope this continues to be something that more schools can make use of while lockdown continues.”
The Headteacher at Avening Primary School, where Year 6 pupils took part last week, said;
"The creative resources, set within the atmosphere-laden Westonbirt, are inspiring; the recordings captured the children’s imaginations from the very start. As a result, the class produced some richly descriptive writing and their lively engagement was testament to the quality of the content. Thank you for a truly magical day!"
